Client relationship management is a new-age business strategy. Intense competition has created the need to maintain client relationships. What was done before as something like taking a client to a dinner, is done is a more sophisticated manner now.
Client relationship management is a doctrine on its own. Client relationships are the basis on which many organizations survive. Without big clients, organizations will have to downsize, and close down many of their facilities.
So how does a client relationship manager achieve perfect client relationships? A client relationship is not just a business to business relationship. It is also a people to people relationship. Many businesses who have had business relationships for decades would tell you that at the top it’s all about people to people relationships.
The movers of businesses are the people themselves, and most often than not, influencing people will get the job done, more than influencing the business.
A client relationship manager is someone who makes sure that the clients are happy. He attends to their need and resolves their issues. A client relationship manager does whatever ethical things possible to keep the customer happy.
A client relationship manager should not be confused with a business analyst. While the latter is concerned with bringing new requirements from the customer, the former is concerned with sitting down with the customer and visualizing a goal.
A client relationship manager can go a step ahead and promote the client’s business. This person can also suggest improvement plans to the client. By doing such nice things, the client relationship manager wins the trust of the client.
