No matter what medical career you choose, a medical practice is a business. This means that if you have chosen one of the many options in physician careers, you have to think of your patient service and interaction with your patients just as you would the customer service and interaction that a retailer or service provider would give to their clients.

Repeat Business

One of the primary reasons you want to establish good doctor-patient relationships is that it builds trust and credability with the patients that come to seek your advice. When you provide superior patient service in a caring and professional manner, existing patients are more likely to remain patients.

Healthier Patients

Doctors that take the time to really get to know their patients and spend time with their patients end up with healthier patients. Patients come to a doctor to receive services that may, in the end, save their lives. Their health is important to them and patients want to feel that their health is important to their doctor as well.

Attracts New Patients via Referrals

When doctors are able to build great relationships with their current patients, it is also an effective way to grow your practice. Happy and satisfied patients are more apt to refer their friends and family members with similar issues to you. Attracting new clients via referrals is less expensive than marketing to try to find new clients, and it is more apt to turn referred patients into repeat patients.
